Social Security
provides both cash assistance and Medicare insurance to individuals
who are disabled from working, whether or not they have ever worked.
Children may also be granted benefits based on their own disabilities.
The basic programs are known as Social Security Disability, or
SSD, and Supplemental Security Income, or SSI. The conditions
that lead to inability to work are wide-ranging, but commonly
include both physical problems and the limitations and pain associated
with them, and mental health issues, often stemming from the physical
problems, but which are no less incapacitating. We are skilled
at marshalling, interpreting, and presenting in a clear and persuasive
manner all forms of medical evidence, involving both physical
and mental health issues
All fees in these matters are contingent both on success and on
the retroactive amount awarded, and are required to be approved
by the agency. We also advocate for individuals in disputes over
short and long term disability (STD, LTD) benefits that may be
available when they are disabled from working.
